Brunnstein,Oberaudorf, Bavaria, Germany 1,620 m

1. BRUNNSTEIN 1620m
Baryrischzell Hills

The Julius Mayr climbing path from the Brünnsteinhaus to the summit was equipped as long ago as 1898. It offers some delightful wire rope sections and, as the easiest of all the climbing paths in this book, makes an ideal trial-run for beginners. Both the route up to the Brünnersteinhaus are pleasant, with plenty of variety, and the view to the Wilder Kaiser is sure to whet your appetite for other, more daring, ventures.

Approaches
a) I do it from Buchau (699m). One km befor ethe town there is a Parking. Then you have to walk the kilometer to the town and start the mountain trail.

Ascents to the Brunnsteinhaus
a) Take the short way, 3 km to the hutte (1360m). The way is well signed.

Summit ascent
From the hut follow the steep forest path up for a few minutes to 25-metre cleft in the rock. Squeeze through, and 30 mins easy, amusing scrambling up the wire ropes will take you to the summit chapel.

Descents
From Brünnsteinhaus walk to Rechenau and Mühlau .
